What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is an energy healing technique developed by Mikao Usui, often referred to as Usui Reiki.  A Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit using their hands to direct universal life force energy to the client to support the natural healing processes of the body.  A practitioner may use light touch or hold their hands just above the body during a Reiki session. Reiki is often used to balance the energy in the body, including the chakras (energy centers).  It can be useful for stress relief, easing pain, promoting peacefulness and calm, and complements other forms of health care as well.  It is a simple, natural, and safe method that everyone can use. A Reiki session may also include sound resonance techniques to balance the biofield (toroidal electromagnetic energy field around the body) using tuning forks, or singing bowls.  Often crystals are utilized in a Reiki session as well.

Reiki sessions are available in person or at a distance (distance healing or by proxy).

The biofield refers to the toroidal electromagnetic field around and within the body. The use of certain sound therapy tools can pick up on or detect subtle energetic distortions within this biofield. Through the process of entrainment, these energy distortions can be smoothed out or released in order to promote natural healing and homeostasis.
